Academic Work
General Statements:
MS-ARP students must maintain a minimum GPA in all coursework to maintain some financial aid and/or earn the degree. Most financial aid packages, including Research Practice Internship placement, require a GPA of 3.0 or above. To graduate with a master’s degree at the UMNTC you must maintain a GPA of 2.8 or above.
MS-ARP students are subject to all university academic policies.
Assignments and Syllabus:
Course instructors work with the program director to ensure that the syllabus and sequence of assignments for each required course are coordinated as much as possible within the consortium calendar and overall degree requirements. Communicate directly with the course instructor if you have questions or concerns about forms, assignments, deliverables or milestone due dates, and with the program director as needed if concerns are not resolved.
Directed Study Coursework:
The cohort-based MS-ARP research curriculum teaches emergent, visual, applied, and fundamental design research tools and methods. At times, and in consultation with the program director, there may be reason for you to enroll in a directed study course for academic credit. For example, you may desire more knowledge-building for a particular topic related to your research interests and activities, or (in rare circumstances) MS-ARP students enroll in directed study in lieu of an internship. Registering for a directed study requires a sequence of approvals, beginning and ending with the program director. Be sure you understand why you want to propose a directed study and how the assigned credits will apply to your degree before initiating the approval process. ARCH 5993 Directed Study forms are in your student folder.
