We're the subject organization of German language and culture at University of Helsinki! Our mission is to support the well-being and promote comfort of our students during their studies, advocate for their rights and act as a link between the students and the faculty. We have been the subject organization of German students at the University of Helsinki since 1987, and during our almost 40-year journey, we have been promoting the cause of Germanists at the University of Helsinki. Our activities include traditional annual events such as Oktoberfest, the Department of Languages' joint freshmen party, Christmas party, and participation in the national Germanist convention. We collaborate a lot with other language students' organizations, so through us you will definitely find friends in Germanist circles as well as other language students!
You can apply to study in German mainly in the national second joint application in the spring. Any student eligible for higher education can apply to study the language. You can apply to study the language either for a course that requires previous experience (such as studying in high school or being a native speaker) or for a course that starts with the basics.
