There is an unreal amount of ways that you can run any route. Here is where we'll dive into how we can do that and why we do it. But remember that when you run routes you're telling the defender a story.
Simply run to the sideline, usually as fast as you can, going no more than 1-3 yards deep.
VS Press: Best to release outside.
Variation: Look inside pre-snap, first step go inside then suddenly break out (similar to a whip route).
Run 4 yards and break in at a very slight angle, just a higher angle than running a 5 yard in route. Continue across the field until you see a defender and settle right before them.
VS Press: Able to release inside or outside, however outside is more advanced.
Variation: Release outside and sell a fade route then after 4 yards wipe under the defender and proceed with the slant.
Run 5 yards and break outside on a straight line. Important to make the break sudden.
VS Press: Best to release outside. Inside release can be used but is very advanced.
Slight Variation: 2 yards into route look back at QB to sell fade then suddenly break out at 5 yards.
This route can vary with its depth. Typically curls are 10 yards, hooks are 5 yards. Both are ran the same however. Run to route depth and drop weight and turn inside around to QB. IF running a curl you want to come back to the ball. If running a hook you can stay where you are at because we don't want to catch the ball at 3 yards. For a post curl, you sprint to 10 yards, post break to 12 yards then drop weight and sit (in hole of defense).
VS Press: Easier to release inside, but if you release outside you MUST get back inside of the defender. '
This route is very similar to the quick out, just deeper. Run 10 yards and break outside on a straight line. Important to make the break sudden.
VS Press: Best to release outside. Inside release can be used but is very advanced.
Slight Variation: 7 yards into route look back at QB to sell fade then suddenly break out at 5 yards.
