Hello there, before I tell you about myself I want you to know that I really appreciate you taking the time to check this site out. It means the world to me! Also, when you read this I hope you are in good spirits (if you're not, I'm only a DM away! @MindOfMagz). Okay let's get into it!
I love football, I think it's the greatest sport ever and I can talk about it for hours.
I love and care about everyone and I am here for you, if there's anything you need from me I can do it.
I am a believer in practical optimism, meaning that I believe in wishful thinking with logical reasoning. For example, I hope that one day I can turn my passion of football into a living but at the same time I know I need to put in the work to get there.
I am a very fair and opened minded person. I try to see every perspective.
I love to learn new things.
These 5 things are very important to me because they are the traits that have helped me grow into the player, coach and most importantly happy person that I am today.
I started playing football at the age of 9 and was a bench-warmer for the first year until I picked it up and became a stud on defense at linebacker. This was also when I was given the nickname "Magz" by one of my favorite coaches ever.
After youth ball, my freshman year I decided to play basketball and football. The coaches didn't know much about me and I ended up becoming a 4th string linebacker. But eventually I was given my opportunity and my head coach realized that I could ball.
Sophomore year I was a starting OLB for my JV team but I was asked to learn a position I had never played before, wide receiver. I did well for never playing it before.
Junior Year I was told I would have to make the move from linebacker to DB because I was too small but I had no interest so I decided to work on being a WR instead. Our starting Y receiver got injured and I eventually worked my way into starting on offense.
My senior year I kept my starting spot on offense and ended up being second on the team in receiving and earned offensive MVP.
I was contacted by a few schools but I decided play at the junior college level, where I realized that I had a lot of work to do and things to learn in order to be successful at receiver. Fortunately, I was able to learn from a great WR Coach by the name of Evan Yabu and not only that I had great teammates who always pushed me to be better. My freshman year was a huge year of growth for me.
Going into my sophomore year I had developed so much as a WR and my teammates and coaches began to notice. One spring practice during 7v7 I had made a great one handed grab and was sprinting towards to the end zone when suddenly I felt a pop in my leg and had to stop running. I couldn't finish practice but I was recognized at the end by my head coach. I felt so accomplished in that moment.
I went to the doctor and learned that I tore my hamstring. Time passes and I returned to the field but only to realize that I wouldn't be able to compete like I once was. I decided to leave the game.
I look to see if there are any coaching positions at my old high school and luckily I landed a role as JV/Varsity WR Coach.
After that first season, I learned that I love coaching and end up being JV offensive coordinator my second year. Which leads me to where I am today.
My football journey had a lot of ups and downs but all of these experiences have shaped me into the man and coach I am today.
I've decided to make football (my biggest passion in life) my side hustle and hopefully my main hustle one day. My goal is to share my knowledge about the game to anyone who wants to learn. I love teaching the game. I am currently using social media to try and do all of the above.
