My initial intention was to give the feeling of being a hunter. To intensify the feeling of superiority, I decided to eliminate direct threats. The only constraint is time, compelling them to stay in constant motion and dispatch their prey swiftly.
This, combined with sound design and post-processing that I also curated, culminates in a frenetic experience closely aligned with our original vision.
T.H.I.R.S.T. is the first video game that my team and I ever made, bringing with it an array of unexpected challenges.
This was our first project on Unity2D, so I learned to do research to target the bugs I encountered and figure out how to fix them. Although I find that the result still has a lot of room for improvement, I learned a lot during these four months of development. I was able to touch all aspects of game programming.
This project also marked the first time we did version control. Our team opted for GitKraken and we can't say that it was a complete success. Despite a tough start , maintaining a disciplined file upload pipeline helped mitigate many issues .
The first containment occurred very early in the production process. A lapse in communication between designers and artists disrupted our workflow. Fortunately, the project rebounded through enhanced internal communication and a collective surge of effort in the final weeks. This experience underscored the critical importance of robust communication within a team.
