The entreprenurial mindset is critical in developing new ideas and innovations. I want to combine this mindset with my business knowledge and engineering education to develop my own space construction company. Below are a few things I have done, take a look.
I attended this entrepreneurship conference to learn about growth stages in startups and to participate in their pitch competition. I finished 3rd in the pitch contest and won $500 for my teams' Trash2Gas project.
My Trash2Gas team and I pitched our project in the business competition. We were invited to participate by my entrepreneurship professor but at the time none of us were in his class. We ended up winning 1st place and $4,800.
I have done three years of door-to-door sales selling Dish Network working for Caliber Communications. I left home three days after graduating from high school and started knocking on doors in Portland Oregon. My first summer was learning how to pitch, product knowledge, and overcoming objections.
The following summer I went to Wichita, KS. Wichita lost a local channel so our sales team moved to Colorado Springs for two weeks, then to Michigan for a month and finished in Washington. Through this summer of traveling sales I had the hardest time of my life, but learned so much more. With all the traveling it made it hard to get into any schedule and learn a market since we moved every 3 weeks. Sales were coming and going here and there but at the end of the summer, I said I would never do Door-to-Door again.
I stuck to my plan and vision and it paid off. I went for a third summer after long talks with my manager and never gave up. I spent the entire summer in Kansas and 5x my sales production from the previous year, going from 27 sales to 114. This taught me how strong you can train your mind to be and to never give up.
The summer prior to my freshmen year of college I was apart of a Youth Leadership council where I was invited to give the annual meeting convocation. I spoke in front of over 7,000 people and was a great experience.
