Cedars-Sinai Cancer researchers James Turkson, Ph.D., Lali Medina-Kauwe, Ph.D., and Sean Li, Ph.D. give U-GROW's Cohort 3 suggestions for success in their summer internships during 2024's Summer Institute.

• U-GROW includes a paid internship with a Cedars-Sinai Cancer researcher or clinician-researcher, completed between June and August of 2026

  • Minimum 180-hour commitment, 360 hrs maximum

  • Approximately 20-40 paid hours per week; please note that our scholars have found it difficult to hold other full-time employment and make the most of this opportunity 

  • In-person only at or near Cedars-Sinai's West Hollywood and Mid-City campuses

• Internships will expose scholars to cancer disparities or cancer research and introduce them to research methods & ethics 

• Successful completion of the internship depends on a satisfactory evaluation from your mentor and participation in an end-of-summer poster presentation
