About U-GROW
Undergraduates Gaining Research Opportunities for the Cancer Workforce (U-GROW) is a program developed and led by Cedars-Sinai Cancer in Los Angeles for students from the eight greater Los Angeles-area campuses of the California State University system: Cal Poly Pomona, Channel Islands, Dominguez Hills, Fullerton, Long Beach, Los Angeles, Northridge, and San Bernardino.
We are an undergraduate research education program whose goal is to create a 21st century cancer workforce for Los Angeles.
Through internships, mentorship, and training we prepare promising LA-area college students, many of them new to research, for graduate programs and careers in cancer research.
Applications for Cohort 5 will open on December 1, 2026. Please see the "Apply" tab above for more information.
Major funding for U-GROW is provided by the Concern Foundation. Through their generous investment, we are able to provide intensive research experiences, mentorship, and training to promising students from underrepresented communities in Los Angeles. We are grateful for their partnership in building a diverse cancer research workforce.
