- One of the main problems of Brexit concerns both land and sea borders between the UK and the neighboring countries, in particular Scotland and Ireland. Some treaties have already been signed with these countries, but no definitive decisions have been made yet; in fact one of the major concerns of the political members is about the conflict of land borders with Ireland, and the political parties of Italy, Ireland and UK are unable to agree on the procedure to be used.
- Everyone agrees that they want to keep the Northern Ireland peace process with the Republic of Ireland, not to bring the state back in time when there was a customs office that divided Ireland into two parts, a period in which there were many political conflicts within the country.
- In addition the solution to this problem must comply the EU single market and the integrity of the UK, therefore the negotiators have found two possible options: the first, called option A, is a free trade and customs deal with the bloc to bypass the need for goods check and tariffs at the border between Northern Ireland and the Republic; the other, called option B, is to use a trusted trader scheme.
- About these possibilities, the British politician David Davis expresses his idea to merge the two options together to make one big super-template.
