Barry Wanninger Delivers Keynote Address at Annual Summer Scholarship Dinner

Each year, Alpha Xi holds our summer scholarship dinner, where freshman at Cincinnati apply and interview for over $2500 in scholarships. This year, six qualified freshman received awards, as well as Lily Johnson, a relative of Alpha Xi alumni.

Brother Barry Wanninger, Scholarship Chairman for CE&CF, delivered the keynote address, touching on the Alpha Xi legacy, as well as its second-to-none scholarship program.

Active brother Owen O'Neill conducted interviews with over 35 applicants, a recent record for Alpha Xi's summer scholarship program. This program serves as an excellent recruitment tool, evidenced by Alpha Xi leading all chapters at UC in recruitment this year. 42 new members accepted bids in the Fall 2023 PC.

Alpha Xi's "Pike Spike" Event Raises $3000+ for KWF!

Brothers tapped into their competitive side, at the annual Pike Spike volleyball tournament.

It was a fun-filled day, all for a good cause. The Karen Wellington Foundation is a non-profit organization dedicated to granting "fun grants" to women and families battling breast cancer, offering them memorable experiences to create cherished moments amidst their challenging journey.

Alpha Xi alumni Robby Wellington started this organization in dedication to his late mother. Click to learn more about the Karen Wellington Foundation.

Alpha Xi was able to donate over $3000 to KWF this year. We will continue the commitment to KWF through our new member's "Pancakes at Pike" on 10/3, Casino Night on 11/3, and our KWF Week in April 2024.

Karaoke Kickstart: Singing for a Good Cause

Earlier this year, we had our annual Karaoke Kickstart event, which brings student organizations from all over campus for a fun night of singing and dancing in the lot! This years' proceeds from the event went towards funding our revived mission trip in the Spring, where we will be building homes in Appalachia.

It was great to see groups from all over campus come to support this event, and exemplified how well-connected Alpha Xi is within the UC community.

Fueling the Fun: Tailgate Season Ignites!

Unfortunately, the Bearcats have left a lot to be desired on the field, but the PIKE tailgates are off to a hot start!

We have a few more tailgates this year:

10/14 - vs. Iowa State (Homecoming Tailgate)

10/21 - vs. Baylor (Parent's Weekend)

11/4 - vs. UCF

11/25 vs. Kansas

If you are interested in a tailgate spot for any of these games, please feel free to reach out and we can try and fill you in if there is a vacancy. We always enjoy having alumni at our tailgates, so feel free to stop by even if you are unable to get a parking spot!

Alpha Xi's Homecoming Court Nominees and Finalists

Simply having one individual from Alpha Xi nominated for Homecoming King is an incredible accomplishment. Two nominations is the mark of a dominant campus organization.

This year brothers Wiley Lyons and Austin Castle were nominated for homecoming king.

Wiley Lyons was named one of five finalists for Homecoming King and will take the field at halftime of the 10/14 game against Iowa State.

Homecoming Tailgate 10/14 sponsored by Southland Hall Association!

In coordination with SHA, Active chapter is excited to welcome all alumni back to the Nester Home this year for our annual homecoming tailgate on 10/14/2023.  We have an action packed day planned. See below for more detailed information on the Homecoming tailgate.

8:00 am - Lot opens for tailgate

9:00 am - Homecoming Parade

12:00 pm - Kick-off @ Nippert vs. Iowa State

We look forward to welcoming you and your families for this cherished tradition. Active Chapter has been hard at work getting the house prepared. Whether you're attending the game or not, we encourage you to join us for the best tailgate of the year!

I would like to thank you all for taking the time to read this newsletter. Please do not hesitate to reach out to me with any and all questions/comments this year! As Alumni Engagement Chair, my job is to serve all of you and make sure the Alpha Xi legacy is preserved for years to come. Looking forward to this year!

As always, Rush PIKE and Go Bearcats!
