Starting in 2022, MIP Interns have made significant impacts to both BHRS and UC Merced. Below are some honourable achievements that are recognized.
Between August 2023 to May 2024, MIP Interns have provided services to over 100 individual BHRS clients. These clients faced an assortment of behavioral health issues that affected daily living and quality of life. MIP Interns worked in tandem with BHRS mentors and staff to provide proper case management, individual and group rehabilitation, and many other services to these clients, ultimately providing a positive impact on Merced's community.
In April 2024, the MIP Interns hosted a conference open to all students to connect them with local organizations working in mental health. Students had the opportunity to make connections, speak 1:1 with staff, and learn about different BHRS divisions and programs. Over 150 students and 10 agencies attended the conference, garnering positive impressions from students and employers alike.
In April 2025, the MIP interns hosted a career fair open to all UC Merced students once again. As a spin-off of the previous year's conference, this event showcased the Mentored Internship Program, employment and volunteer opportunities, and future education (i.e MSW, PhD). Over 80 students and 20 programs attended this career fair.
In April 2025, UC Merced's Public Relations (PR) team reached out to current MIP staff, interns, and alumni to create an article written by Public Information Officer, Jody Murray.
