Merced County Behavioral Health and Recovery Services (BHRS) is a county organization that is dedicated to providing behavioral health and support services to the Merced area.
There are many areas of behavioral health that interns are encouraged to work with. Below are some highlighted departments that previous interns have experienced.
Adult's System
of Care
(ASOC)
ASOC provides behavioral and mental health support to the Merced County population over 18 years old. This division focuses on the collaborative effort to help individuals onto the path to recovery and full, productive lives.
Children's System of Care
(CSOC)
CSOC aims to provide behavioral and mental health treatment to individuals under the age of 18 years old. This division emphasizes the importance of maintainance, both school and the home, to grow into a healthy and balanced adult life.
Mental Health Services Act
(MHSA)
MHSA, or Proposition 63, prioritizes in creating a system that acknowledges mental health, wellness, resiliency, and recovery. This division implements prevention and accessibility for those stigmatized.
Substance Use Disorder Services (SUDS)
SUDS aims to help those, inpatient and outpatient, to educate and help individuals recovering from substance use disorder. Combined with several other programs, SUDS focuses on several risk factors and provides substance use disorder treatment.
Recovery Assistance for Teens
(RAFT)
RAFT is an outpatient division that emphasizes teaching adolescents about substance use disorders. Between ages 12-17, individuals are taught different treatment and recovery methods.
Crisis Stabilization Services
(CSS)
CSS grants community members support when in a state of mild to moderate stress. CSS maintains triage and the crisis stabilization unit, as well as partner programs such as Aspirnet for those under 18 years old.
Community Assistance, Recovery, & Employment (CARE)
CARE Court is a program in association with the CARE Act. This program highlights services to those with psychotic disorders or on the schizophrenic spectrum by providing intervention techniques and prevention.
Justice & Community Integration
(JCI)
JCI is a program that offers treatment program options to those mentally ill offenders. This program is in partnership with Merced County Law Enforcement, and is offered to both adult and juvenile offenders.
