W boson

The picture above is our very first W boson candidate. It looks somewhat similar to the Z boson decay but since the W decays to a muon and neutrino, that is undetected, the characteristic signature is a single unbalanced high momentum muon. Our paper describing the results at a centre-of-mass energy of 7 TeV was published in the Journal of High Energy Physics JHEP 06 (2012) 58, while the measurement at 8 TeV was published in JHEP 01 (2015) 155.
