I wanted to do something a bit more substantial for Shavuot mainly paralleling the Naomi and Rut to Shaul and David because both Shaul and Naomi's first words have to do with turning back (shuvah). There are parallels between Shaul and Naomi that I wanted to depict: mainly that their biological line doesn't continue while their legacy does by their successors (David/Rut). Rut's son becomes Naomi's son and continues her legacy through yibbum even if biologically, Naomi's lineage does not continue. Similarly, Shaul's dynasty was also short-lived but kingship continued via the Davidic monarchy. The continuation will have to come for next year.
