Growing a Turnip!
In this section, we explain how to grow a turnip from first! It has many steps and much harder than growing turnips with pesticides!
Step 1:Ploting soils
First, even before we plant the seeds, we plot the garden! We use a tool called "rake", and a tool called, "flat shovel" to make a plantable spot for the Turnip so that it will grow.
Step 2:Planting seeds
Next, we plant the seeds into the soil! We have to plant it in a precise location so that it will grow nicely. We make around 1cm hole in the garden plot and then put the seeds in it. We make a 3cm distance in each of the seeds. Once there ready, cover it with soil!
Step 3:Planting again
For the third step, we wait until the next week. First we go see the turnips. Most of the turnip is sprouted but there are also turnips that couldnt grow, so we plant the seeds again in the same spot and give water.
Step 4:Weeding
For the fourth step, we wait 1 to 2 week and check the turnip. They are now much bigger! Then, if we look closely, there holes in the leaves that insects ate. If we use pesticides, the insects won't harm the plants, but its an organic farm so we cant use those.
Step 5:Apply "Organic" pesticides
For the fith step, we apply organic pesticides to the vegetables. For the organic pesticides, there are vinegar, and chili pepper inside the container and we put water.
If we spray this to the vegetables, the insects and the other species won’t harm the Turnip.
Step 6:Harvesting the Turnip
For the sixth step, we wait 1 to 2 weeks for the Turnip to grow. And then, the Turnips are ready to be harvested. Pull the leaves of the Turnip and it can be harvested!
Step 7:Washing the Turnip
For the seventh step, we wash the harvested Turnip! Since its an organic garden, insects are attached to the Turnip so we wash it properly!
After washing it, we can cook or make food and eat it!
