English Language Proficiency Test
Twin Oaks Elementary School is committed to supporting English Learners as they develop the language skills needed for academic success.
Our English Learner (EL) Program helps students strengthen their listening, speaking, reading, and writing skills in English while continuing to learn grade-level content. EL services are tailored to each student's individual language needs and are provided in collaboration with classroom instruction.
The English Language Proficiency Test (ELPT) is Louisiana's annual assessment for students identified as English Learners. The ELPT measures students' progress in English language development in four areas:
Listening
Speaking
Reading
Writing
The results help educators monitor language growth and provide appropriate support to help students succeed in the classroom.
Families play an important role in their child's language development. You can support your child by:
Reading together every day.
Encouraging conversations about school and daily activities.
Practicing new vocabulary words.
Visiting the library and exploring books of interest.
Supporting learning in both English and your home language.
Twin Oaks Elementary values the partnership between school and home.
Together, we can help every student build confidence, achieve academic success, and reach their full potential.
