From Our Music Director:
Welcome back, and welcome to our new season of music making! At our September meeting, we will play a variety of pieces. If you would like to practice in advance, there are links to some of them below. Scores and/or parts will be available at the September meeting.
As is our long tradition for monthly meetings, we will include the latest ARS (American Recorder Society) publication: ‘Blue Toots’. Members of the ARS will find it accessible at the ARS website: (https://mms.americanrecorder.org/members/secure/filearchive/ file_secure_check.php?fid=247334923&fac=6627807&org_id=ARSO), or in the most recent print version of ARS journal.
We will also play several pieces available at IMSLP.org. One is ‘Wie schön leucht’ uns,’ by Ernst Köhler, arranged by Eric Haas https://vmirror.imslp.org/files/imglnks/usimg/9/97/IMSLP210913-WIMA.8677Koehler_Wie_schoen_rec.pdf
Turning to important works of Western classical music, we will play selections from ‘The Fairy Queen’ by Henry Purcell, arranged by R.D. Tennant: ‘Rondeau’, ‘Hush, No More,’ ‘Dance for the Fairies’, and ‘Jig.’

Finally, we will play two dances by G.G. Gastoldi, arranged by Michel Sanvoisin, ‘Il premiato’ and ‘Lo schernito’. We will be using a printed version of this (each two pages long); however, if you would like to practice ahead of our meeting, here are links to other versions. A note: if you use an app to extract a single part, please be certain to number the measures for ease in playing in a group. https://ks15.imslp.org/files/imglnks/usimg/c/c1/IMSLP406157-PMLP170146(11)_Gastoldi_GG_-_10_Il_premiato_-_EN266-11(2016).PDF
