Medical Student Doulas Program (MSDP)

Our Mission

The Medical Student Doulas Program (MSDP) aims to increase access to Doula services for high-risk obstetric patients receiving care at Tufts Medical Center. By training medical students as doulas, the program provides a unique opportunity to cultivate skills that can enhance the patient-provider relationship and increase knowledge regarding social justice and health equity. 

Given the maternal mortality epidemic, with Black women 3x more likely to suffer a pregnancy-related death when compared to their white counterparts, the MSDP is committed to providing volunteer services to marginalized and historically oppressed communities in an effort to improve outcomes.
