Maine Obstetric Patients and their Students (MOPS) aims to provide support and advocacy for people during pregnancy and their post-partum period in the Portland, ME area. We plan to accomplish this by hosting a support group that focuses on community-building and education. In addition to strengthening the support network in our community, this support group provides an opportunity for birthing parents and students to learn from volunteer speakers sharing their knowledge on a variety of topics relevant to the perinatal period. Our hope is that there may be further opportunities in the future to create one-on-one pairings between students and parents from the support group for increased support as well as to collaborate with other community organizations around the area with similar missions.
