The Ophthalmology Interest Group (OIG) aims to help provide medical students early exposure to ophthalmology and cultivate excitement for the field. Opportunities through OIG serve to supplement the limited introduction to ophthalmology in medical school curriculum with a deeper understanding of the clinical practice and diverse scope of career paths within this specialty. In addition to connecting students with shadowing and research opportunities, OIG organizes events including an eye and orbit dissection, a current resident panel, an ophthalmology tools workshop, a residency match panel, and guest speaker sessions to highlight various career paths. There may be future opportunities to partner with local organizations and institutions to help improve eye health in our communities. Events will be held in both Boston and Portland.
