The overall mission of FGiM is to create and foster a sense of community among first-generation (students whose parents did not graduate college or attend medical school in the US) and low-income students, alumni, residents and faculty at Tufts University School of Medicine (TUSM), to serve as an emotional and academic support system for the FGiM community, to provide opportunities for mentorship, and to highlight and celebrate the successes and backgrounds of the first-generation and low-income students at TUSM.
