All of us come from various backgrounds and have different interests, different research themes, and different goals. That in itself is our biggest strength, whereby we enjoy the variety of viewpoints we share to create something amazing.

Yuki Watanabe
I am conducting research on language services for foreign residents. I would like to spread ideas that will enable foreigners living in Japan to live comfortably as members of the Japanese society. I am a member of the "Wota-gei (ヲタ芸)" circle.

Hazuki Otsuka
The word "parenting" is what attracted me to this project. Personally, I am interested in how gender is spoken of in society. I believe that this project will allow me to explore different possibilities for "dialogue", thus connecting to my research topic.

I am from Gunma Prefecture. I am a member of the athletic club at the university. “Migration” and “Language education” are my topics of interest. I participated in this project as it would be helpful to my research theme. I am doing my best to grow here.

I am an original Tsukuba resident! As they say, Tsukuba is a perfect blend of rural and urbanism. I feel it is a very special place with such a rural and urban characteristic to it. I hope that many people with various backgrounds can live harmoniously in this city.

Tatsuya Kanai
After working for 38 years (including 18 years overseas), I started my doctoral journey with the aim of “bringing a smile to the everyday life of foreigners who chose to come to Japan. I would like to do my best to support this entire team that is always full of energy, and help connect the University of Tsukuba and society.

Ayumi Inouchi
I got involved in this project after my fieldwork at a nursery school in Tsukuba in 2019. By closely keeping touch with this project, I regard this project as a place to gain the opportunity to relate linguistic anthropology with society, and to think the raison d'être of scholarship and academia. 学問のあり方について.

I am from India. My doctoral research is based on the social life of Indians living in Japan. I am participating in this project as a researcher of cross-cultural issues. I love art, Indian music and traveling. My dream is to contribute to the creation of a society where people can lead their lives smoothly as global citizens!

I have been going back and forth between China and Japan since I was a child. I am a Chinese person. As I have a lot of cross-cultural experience, I love the topic of “culture shock”. Currently, I am conducting research on multicultural convivial policies in Japan from a foreigner’s perspective. I like everything about the Fantasy World, and taking on new challenges!
