Dyslexia Tuition Torbay
After school places are limited so please call to check availability.
After school lessons begin from 3pm to 4pm or 3.30pm to 4.30pm or 5pm to 6pm or 5.30pm to 6.30pm.
Saturday mornings are available from 9am to 2pm.
Please note some students are picked up a little earlier from school for the 3pm lessons.
The New Literacy (Catch Up Club) runs throughout the school holidays, mainly the 6 week summer break. The tuition focuses intensely on areas of literacy that require improvement - a bit like (hot housing), this can be done for SAT tests Vernon tests or any area of literacy required.
The Initial assessment is free when 2 to 5 hourly sessions are booked per week throughout the 6 week school holidays, please note that 5 hours per week throughout the summer break is equivalent to a 7 month period of tuition normally and 30 hrs of tuition is when I would normally re-assess a pupil, it is a very quick catch up.
For shorter school breaks the price of the assessment is dependent on how many days a week you book.
Note to adults: please don't think it's too late to improve your reading and spelling skills - with targeted tuition excellent progress can be achieved.
Please note: I operate a 24 hour cancellation policy or payment in full.
Below Is information on the children's Education Act and the link to the website explaining what your rights are as parents in regards to taking your children out of school during school hours.

In law it is always the PARENTS' duty to provide a SUITABLE education for their children, including catering for any special needs (Education Act 1996 Section 7). Normally parents delegate this duty to a school. If parents believe that the school is failing to provide their child with a 'suitable' education then the parents are obliged to do something about it. They would be acting irresponsibly if they didn't do so. By arranging specialist tuition during school hours, they are merely trying to fulfil their lawful duty by setting up what the school can't/won't provide. The school needs to have a very good reason to withhold consent - is the school able to provide equivalent tuition: a regular time, a quiet area for one-to-one, plus someone with expertise in using synthetic phonics remedially on the school premises, paid for by the school? Probably not! If the school refuses, then the parents should contact their LE A's SEN department and explain the situation
