Located between Kyushu and the Korean Peninsula, Tsushima has flourished since ancient times as an important transportation hub connecting people and goods. This exhibition features works by artists from Japan and abroad who have stayed in Tsushima, interacted with the people of Tsushima, and created works inspired by the history, rich nature, and unique culture of Tsushima. The title of this exhibition, “Chandelier,” was inspired by the poem “Chandelier” by the late Tsushima poet, Masuko Esaki. Following the poem, which refers to the spring rain scooped up with chopsticks as a chandelier, we consider Tsushima's charm and each of the artists' works as the light that assembles the chandelier. We look forward to welcoming you.
