Welcome to our Fall 2021 course website for Troubled Waters: Race, the Environment and Law in American Studies taught by Kirisitina Sailiata at Macalester College. Working in pairs or small groups, students have spent chosen a range of issues based around water politics from local issues around the restoration of the Mississippi river, the rights of Manoomin, the Rondo neighborhood and the conservation of Chokan Tanka to direction action camps in Vancouver, BC to protect old growth forests and the cultural significance of taro and food sovereignty activism in Hawai'i.
