CAMBRIDGE INTERNATIONAL AS-LEVELS AND A-LEVELS
Key features:
Students choose three or four subjects to study for two years.
Board examinations at the end of Year 11 (May/June 2026) = AS-level
and at the end of Year 12 (May/June 2027) = A-level.
The final A-level grade is the combination of the AS mark and the A-level mark.
All students follow the AS English General Paper course over two years.
There is a March examination session, results being released in May (2027) to facilitate entrance to Indian universities: the School commits itself to having students ready for this session.
There is the traditional May/June examination session. Working towards this session means that students will receive a fuller programme of examination practice and revision. Results are released in mid-August (2027)
A ‘usual’ A-level programme would be three subjects and AS English. This would be sufficient for making applications to overseas institutions and for many courses at Indian universities. If applying for Medicine, in India applicants will need to take Chemistry, Biology and Physics which will provide preparation for the content for the NEET. However, some institutions will ask for five subjects, including English (i.e. four A-levels and AS English). If applying for Engineering, then Physics and Mathematics are required; again, five subjects might be asked for by some institutions.
The videos you can access here provide an overview of the content of each A-level subject and the skills that the subject develops.
