How To Visually Develop (& Share) Your Trinket.

ARE YOU?

An advanced 2d artist or visual creative?

Looking for more experience in the stylisation and illustration of objects?

Interested in what a trinket is?

Or already a trinket appreciator who wants to show and tell?

DO YOU WANT TO CREATE?

A complete visually developed trinket, consisting out of..

Concept art & documentation.

An inspectable with hover animation.

A visual narrative.

And a full illustration with interaction in mind.

DO YOU WANT TO SHARE?

Your trinket as a custom personal game for others to play? Such as this:

AND DO YOU HAVE WHAT IT TAKES?

  • An advanced competency in digital 2d art. Including but not limited to: a pro understanding of digital art software, usage of a visual repertoire, understanding of shape/composition/space/aesthetics and a general illustrative capability.

  • A basic understanding of Unity. Primarily software navigation and customisation of assets.

  • Photoshop or a similar digital art software.

  • Unity version 2020.3.14f1

  • Unity package create your own!

  • Half an hour of your time to read everything, couple of days to execute the steps (depending on your speed).

THEN KEEP GOING!

The navigation bar at the top of the page is organised in sections; conceptualise, execute and finish. In conceptualise, we will look at a trinket as subject and lay the groundwork for our visuals. In execute, you'll create all that makes a visually developed trinket as seen above. In finish, we get to turn it into a game and share it with others.

So every section exists out of a few steps. I recommend you follow every step in order but you're free to check out the content you find interesting specifically:

01 What IS a trinket? (& why is there an important distinction?)

02 Identifying YOUR trinket.

03 Visual analysis & concept art.

04 Documentation.

05 The inspectable (and hover animation).

06 The visual narrative.

07 The (interactive) illustration.

08 Implementation in Unity.

09 Sharing & caring.

This website was made to function as a tutorial alongside my graduation project 'curio case!' on itch.io.

I made this because I want to share my fascination with trinkets, and hope to bring wonder, joy & connection to anyone whose interested.

I hope together we can build a community of trinket appreciators ✶
