The code is what the clan's follow.
It is their honorable code that makes them who they are and to be a great warrior.
Clan dogs are to put their Clan first and defend their Clan, even with their life. They may have friendships with dogs from the other Clan, but their loyalty must first be to their own Clan.
Healers may have pups if they have an apprentice/assistant who can cover their duties. If they do not have an apprentice/assistant, they can request a nursing Mother to care for their pups while they perform their duties. (Bearclan Only, JaguarClan does not permit the Healer having pups)
Clan dogs may not hunt/travel into the other Clan’s territory or enter the other Clan’s camp unless permission is given by a high rank (Alpha, Beta, Delta, Healer) or a patrol leader.
Prey is killed only to be eaten. Give thanks to StarClan for its life.
Elders, Mothers, Pups, and the sick and injured are to be fed before other ranks unless permission is given by a high rank (Alpha, Beta, Delta, Healer).
Dogs under the age of six moons are not allowed outside of camp without an older apprentice or warrior accompanying them.
Pups must be at least six moons old before becoming apprentices.
In order to graduate into a warrior, apprentices must either complete their warrior assessment or demonstrate a show of strength that proves that they are deserving of the rank.
When a high ranking dog (Alpha, Beta, Delta, Healer) dies, retires, or is exiled, another dog is to be appointed in their place by the following Moonhigh. The dog who is requested for the rank must consent to having the rank before they are officially appointed. When the Alpha dies, the Beta must travel to the Starlit Falls to receive their five lives. When an Alpha retires or is exiled, their lives are to be removed by StarClan.
Gatherings are to be held every full moon during nightfall. Fighting amongst the allegiances is forbidden during this time.
Patrol leaders must report all activity at the borders that could impact the security of the Clans.
No Clan dog can neglect another dog in pain or danger, even if they are from another allegiance.
The word of the Alphas, Betas, Deltas, and Healers are to be respected and followed. If they prove to have intentions that harm the wellbeing of the Clan(s) or break an established law, they are to be questioned and the matter is to be turned to a vote among the warriors.
An honorable warrior should not kill another dog (Clan dog or stray) to win their battles. However, if a dog (Clan dog or stray) poses an imminent threat against the Clans or its dogs, the matter should be brought to the Alpha. If the dog shows no signs of redemption, they are to be executed to insure the safety of the Clans.
Both Clans must support and protect one another when threats to either or both Clans arise. One Clan should not let the other fall under any circumstances.
Wolves/Wolf-dogs are dangerous and possible threats. Clans housing them watch them with careful eyes.
Clan dogs who do not abide by the Warrior Code will be punished by their Alpha according to the severity of the broken rule. These include (in order of the severity):
Undesirable Jobs: cleaning the den bedding and dirtplace; picking ticks off of elders; etc.
Daily quota: dogs must complete a set of tasks in the span of a day (including catching a set number of prey). If they do not fulfill their quota, they must eat last for the day.
Confinement to camp: cannot leave camp without an approved escort; not allowed to participate in hunts/patrols.
Delayed ceremony: apprentices who have misbehaved can have their warrior ceremony/assessment delayed until they have proven that they are worthy of the rank.
Stripped of rank: they will lack a rank until they prove their worth to the Clan or, in the case of high ranks, are demoted to a warrior.
Banishment: exiled dogs are never welcome back to the Clan.
Execution: for the most dangerous of dogs, unable to banish for fear of endangering others. executions are to be swift, outside of camp, and overseen by the Alpha or Beta.
The law that the Tribe follows.
This law is followed without a misstep or punishments ensue.
The Chief has say over all.
Respect the Precursors. They may help you one day.
The Tribe comes first over all matters. Protect it and it will protect you.
To leave the Tribe is to betray its trust. A dog who left will not be as welcomed upon their return.
Do not attack Strays without reason. Pity them for the life they live. With that, turn your nose up at becoming a Stray for it is disgraceful.
The only strays that may be challenged are wolf-bloods for they are the most dangerous while wild hybrids are seen as an act against the precursors. These dogs are outlaws among the Tribe and are not welcome among their pure bloodline. Pure breeds, however, are seen highly of.
When a dog comes of age, they will pass The Trials to be considered a full member of the Tribe. Newcomers must prove themselves to be welcomed.
Any dog has the right to challenge a Chief's leadership. If they are able to defeat a Champion chosen by the Chief they may fight the Chief directly.
If beaten in a fair fight by a Champion, the Chief must step down. The Champion who beat the Chief takes the Chief's spot.
If the Chief is defeated by any other dog or killed outside of a challenge, The remaining high ranks and honored Tribe members will meet to decide who the next Chief will be. This can either be by a vote or Champions challenging one another.
Every pup is to be treated as equals no matter their condition. If a pup is orphaned they become the responsibility of the Tribe. To abandon your young is a huge disgrace and will be punishable. Pups are our future and your legacy.
To join the Tribe from the outside, you must prove yourself. For an outsider to get a feather they must vow their life to the Precursors. Outsiders will only, ever have one feather.
Nothing upon a fallen member may be taken or touched, to do this you risk their chances of joining the precursors or being reborn. Herbalists are the only ones allowed to dress the body while family may touch noses or nuzzle gently before send off.
Prey is to be hunted to feed the Tribe, Sport hunting will be punishable, higher punishments if birds are killed or harmed unless it is during a trial.
Tribe dogs who will not abide by the law and end up breaking them face punishments of different severity. These include (in order of the severity):
Title revoke: After a crime has been committed, The dog who committed said crime has their title removed. They go by their nickname once again like when they were a trainee. They are treated like a low-ranking dog of the Tribe, no longer a full member until they re-earn their title.
Name removal: A dog who has committed a crime has their name fully removed. They are no longer called by their name nor nicknames among the Tribe. They are known as a Cur. Once they re-earn their names, they are given new ones for the old dog they were is now dead and gone.
The Pit: If a dog seems to not be able to learn or breaks an important law, they are placed into a pit dogs cannot easily climb out of. Once in there, they are not allowed food or water for three days.
Left in the wilderness: The troubled dog is sent out on their own to live out by the ocean. This is where they are to reconnect with the Precursors and remember what the Tribe has done for them and how they need the Tribe.
Removed feathers: Feathers are removed from a dog and placed into the Chief's den where they are not to be touched. If they are, higher punishment will be given. This threatens the dog with not joining the afterlife/reincarnation if they don't shape up.
Banishment: Exiled dogs who are no longer allowed back into the Tribe and forced out of their territory. Feathers are taken so they aren't reincarnated.
Sent to the sea: A punishment that's only for the worst dogs who show no change. The Chief decides if this is the case and send the dog out to swim the sea where they will either drown from exhaustion or are found by a predator. Often times a crowd is near to watch. Feathers are taken so they aren't reincarnated.
