We welcome all educators, administrators, and community members in the tri-county area to join our GATE Council.
To fund our programs in San Luis Obispo, Santa Barbara, and Ventura counties, we collect annual dues of:
$100: district or multiple school sites, OR
$75: homeschool pod membership or single-school site OR
$25: individual (teacher/admin/community member) or homeschool site.
Your annual membership is active from August-June and allows you to participate in monthly meetings, serve as a board member, serve on a committee(s), be eligible for grants and scholarships, register students for GATEway to Leadership (middle school student conference), and other opportunities throughout the school year. All members of the Tri-County GATE council are volunteers, so the entirety of your dues support our GATE community.

TRI‐COUNTY GATE COUNCIL MEMBER BENEFITS:
Our programs, as listed below, are possible because of the generosity of community dues and volunteer service of our members.
Monthly Meetings: held virtually via Zoom on the second Thursday of each month, meetings focus on council business, GATE programming, and relevant topics within and across districts/schools. These meetings facilitate communication and collaboration across districts/schools to better support gifted students.
GATE DATE: held virtually via Zoom on the second Thursday of each month before our board meeting, this open virtual meeting is a place to share and discuss all things gifted education.
GATEway to Leadership Conference: for Tri-County 7th graders with leadership potential. The 24-25 conference was held March 8th, 2025.
Grants: for teachers and students to pursue a passion project or share interests with the class or school community. Grant applications and guidelines are sent to GATE Coordinators each fall to be shared with staff and students in their district/site.
We Honor Our Own Luncheon and Distinguished Service Award: recognizes the talents and dedication of those in our community who go above and beyond to support our gifted and talented students. Nomination requests are sent to GATE Coordinators to be shared with staff and students in their district/site.
Best Practices Conference: is a day-long best conference for educators and parents/guardians, held each year. The conference features a keynote speaker and sessions from master teachers/practitioners of gifted education. This year's event will be October 4th, 2025.
