We invite our members to Tri-County GATE Council’s annual GATEway to Leadership event held in March each year. Our most recent event was held at OXNARD COLLEGE on Saturday, March 8, 2025.
GATEway to Leadership helps to develop 7th-grade gifted student-leaders in a one-day conference led by Gabe Teran, VCOE Operations Specialist, and an amazing group of Upward Bound high school students. This conference provides opportunities for gifted students to develop independence and leadership skills. This event also helps students learn and practice assertiveness skills that are important in our communities and society.
Tri-County GATE Council organizes the event and assures that students are well-supervised and positively engaged. Volunteers from the Tri-County GATE Council, staff members of participating school districts, and trained Upward Bound High School students supervise students at a ratio of 1:10. Volunteers facilitate a variety of small and large group leadership-focused activities for student participants.
