To improve the bike safety of Parker Street, we plan on removing the parallel parking lanes on both sides of the street and replacing them with bike lanes. This will also provide the space to widen the sidewalks. We will also build buffer zones between the bike lanes and the car lanes. This will separate car and bike traffic, creating a safe environment for both forms of traffic, since current bike lanes only use a painted line on the road to show the separation, which is dangerous. These buffer zones will make sure there are increasingly fewer accidents. The installation of the bike lanes and buffer zones along Parker Street will cost $70,200.
