Supporting Young Trans Children

    • Sunday – every week - Royal Oak @ 10:30 a.m. - 12:00 p.m.

      • Children ages 12 and under at The Center for Relationship and Sexual Health ($20 per session)

    • Wednesday – 3rd Wednesday of each month – Livonia @ 6:30 – 8:00 p.m.

      • Children ages 5-11 at Emmanuel Lutheran Church

    • Sporadically Erin has a local play group for trans children ages 4-12. Contact transparentsareawesome@gmail.com. Also ask about the secret Facebook page for parents of non-conforming children of Southeastern Michigan.

    • Tuesday - 1st Tuesday of each month - Lake Orion @ 7:00 - 8:30 p.m. at St. Mary's In-the-hills Episcopal Church

    • Wednesday – 2nd Wednesday of each month – Flint @ 6:30 - 8:00 p.m. at Unitarian Universalist Congregation of Flint (includes group for youth)

    • Thursday - 2nd and 4th Thursday of each month - Farmington Hills @ 7:00 - 8:30 p.m. at Orchard United Methodist Church (includes group for youth)

Gender Spectrum has about 30 online groups in their online "lounge" – some for parents and some for teens. www.genderspectrum.org

Jacalyn Bishop in Novi is a pediatric endocrinologist (preteen to 18)

Dan Shumer in Ann Arbor is a pediatric endocrinologist with the U-M system

      • To access pediatric gender services at Michigan Medicine, it is helpful if the youth’s PCP refers the child to Pediatric Endocrinology, citing gender identity as the reason for referral. If a family does not want to involve the PCP, they may self-refer by calling 734-764-5175 and inquiring about gender services.

Muhammad Jabar in Flint is a pediatric endocrinologist with Hurley


For teens:

Jessica Shill is an endocrinologist in Detroit @ Henry Ford (teen through adult)

Maureen Connolly practices adolescent medicine at Youthville and Ruth Ellis (teen trough 22 or 30)

Will Powers is in family practice in Farmington Hills (Currently on a waitlist)
