The Zero Waste in TVET initiative emphasizes the need to promote sustainable development through Technical Vocational Education and Training (TVET) institutions to achieve the Africa Union (AU) Agenda 2063 and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The aim is to integrate zero-waste principles into TVET programs to reduce waste production and promote efficient waste management within the TVETs and the community.
What's the current challenge?
TVET institutions generate lots of training and production wastes, but the institutions lack resources, and inadequate knowledge on waste management initiatives, and lack strategies, policies, or guidelines. Hence, the need for this project to develop a waste management manual, capacity build trainers, form a network of all the stakeholders, and pull the resources together to ensure best waste management practices are adhered to by all the stakeholders.
