In 2014 ØsterGro was established as Copenhagen’s first community rooftop farm, located in the heart of the vibrant Østerbro neighborhood.

The vision behind ØsterGro has always been to inspire and engage by offering a rare opportunity: to witness a working farm in the middle of the city and take part in it.
Every Tuesday they have their volunteer day, when people from all over the world lend a hand and help bring the rooftop to life. Each year, 40 members share in the weekly harvest throughout the growing season.

After years of hosting seasonal lunches and dinners on the rooftop, the ØsterGro team felt it was time to take the next step — To create a year-round space where more people could be welcomed into the community. 

That’s how Gro Spiseri came to life: a communal eatery built on the same values of sustainability, seasonality, and togetherness. So now Gro Spiseri is an urban rooftop restaurant amongst freshly grown produce and quality organic food. See more.
