It's fun, free of charge, unfortunately due to the height of the bench, may be difficult for some people to get up on them by themselves, although a helping hand from a friend would be good.
We would recommend eating your lunch or drink something cold in the sun on this fun bench and enjoy the view of the lakes.
Copenhagen has taken a fun initiative to highlight climate change with a striking campaign:
The elevated city benches, but why is that?
Rising global temperatures will result in a changing climate, bringing more floods, stronger storms, and elevated sea levels.
The benches have been raised by 85 cm above normal height, challenging people to think creatively in order to use them — just as our future cities may need to be reimagined if CO2 emissions and other greenhouse gases continue at current levels.
With this initiative, the city aimed to give Danes a tangible sense of what climate change might actually look like — making it easier to understand and relate to.
A total of 12 benches were installed across Denmark, with the majority in Copenhagen. Many of the benches only remained for a short period, and were removed again. Only a few remain. We would recommend seeing the one at Ofelias plads or at the lakes. The bench shown in the picture above has been there for over 3 years and is very popular along the lakes in the city center.
