The purpose of Phase 1 is to work on introducing myself, establishing strong relationships and to gain insights that will inform my next steps as superintendent. Intentional meetings are held with the school board, administration, teachers, support staff, parents, students, and members of the community. During these meetings, my goal is to listen and learn, and capture critical feedback, perceptions, and information to be used to develop a picture of district’s past and present reality. Throughout all of the Phases I hope to generate trust, respect, credibility, and consistency.

Goals

  • Cultivate a trusting and effective working relationships

  • Gain a deeper understanding of the current state of the district including fiscal health, data structures, standard operating procedures, technology, policies, and priorities

  • Actively partner with key stakeholders to understand the district as it relates to the community

Actions

  • Send introductory videos or letters to all staff and the community introducing myself, sharing some background, and highlighting my commitments to the school district

  • Meet with the Board to identify key priorities and expectations for the district

  • Tour the district and learn its history

  • Complete a budget review to understand the financial health and standing of the district

  • Schedule personal meetings with District Leadership Team and other key stakeholders
