It is the only settlement founded by French settlers who came from Burdeos, Philadelphia and Louisiana. It is one of Cuba's most beautiful cities. In 2005 the Urban Historic Center of Cienfuegos is put on the UNESCO World Heritage List, citing Cienfuegos as the best extant example of early 19th century Spanish Enlightenment implementation in urban planning.

Tour Itinerary CC5 Cienfuegos City
When usually start our Cienfuegos touring in Cienfuegos' Punta Gorda area (2 hour) we will drive down Malecón, have photo stops at Palacio Azul / Club Cienfuegos, Parque de Las Escultura, then see the most beautiful building in Cienfuegos: Palacio de Valle. also known as the "Taj Mahal" of Cienfuegos. Punta Gorda is the area with the most up-scale area where many of the buildings on the main corridor are converted to Paladars and Casa Particulares. We will have stops and talk about Cuba the Cuban culture and Cienfuegos.
From Punta Gorda, we will drive up Paseo del Prado (Calle 37) and start our tour of Cienfuegos City Center (3 hour). We will have a quick stop at the Statue of Benny Moré and have a short walk across Ave. 54 (San Fernando) Cienfuegos' shopping street to the city's main square Parque Jose Marti. We can have a quick stop at the state owned Cigar store for authentic Cigars and the House of Rum. We will then head over to see the historical sights around the square: Tomás Terry Theater, Colegio San Lorenzo, Palacio de Gobierno, Casa Del Fundador, Arch de Triumph, Ferrer Palace. We will stop at the 29th street craft vendors and go up to the La Union Hotel roof terrace for a panoramic view of the city. If time permits we can have a beverage stop at the Union Hotel roof terrace.
CC5 can be a much more fast pace tour of the city to cover as much as possible during the time allocated. We recommend fitting in a beverage break sometime during the tour.
Tour Itinerary CC7, CC9 Cienfuegos City
With our CC7 and CC9 Tour we will be spending up to 7 or 9 hours touring Cienfuegos instead of 5 hours with CC5. With the extra 2 or 4 hours can easily include an authentic Cuban lunch at a local private restaurant (1-1.5 hours). Please let us know your lunch preference at the time of booking.
We the extra time we can have a scenic drive to Playa Luna area then to Hotel Pasacaballo in Rancho Luna landing to see the mouth of the Cienfuegos bay just across from the Jagua Castle. We can pass by the Necropolis Tomás Acea the unique garden cemetery in Cienfuegos. We can also drive through the local neighborhoods, stop at the local market and ration store for a glimpses of local Cuban life.
Other possible stops: Taking more time to see the architectural details of the Taj Mahal of Cienfuegos' Palacio de Valle (20 minutes) up close. Go inside and walk up to the roof top terrace for the view or have a relaxing beverage there (45 minutes). Walk through Club Cienfuegos, stops for beverage and music at the many musical venues in Cienfuegos (see Destinations page for a list). We can also just spend more time at the City Center stops e.g. at the 29th street crafts vendors. BTW, we will be happy to help you bargain for souvenirs. We can also drive around the local neighborhoods and have a scenic drive to the beautiful La Laguna del Cura beach.
