"At Hostal La Verde, Tony, his wife and daughter really makes us feel like being with family. We have the privacy we want with our private rooms yet we can join them with family conversations. From our interactions with them and places Tony suggested us to go see (for example the local ration government stores) we learned a lot about the many challenges living in Cuba. This alone makes staying at their Casa so very worthwhile. We feel extremely safe walking around the neighborhood. There are many interesting places to explore within 10 to 20 minutes walk from the Casa completely safe. The historic buildings in Punta Gorda are all beautiful. It is a nice few minutes walk to go down to the beach and the lagoon. There are many good clean private restaurants near by. Tony's wife is also an excellent cook to take up their optional family dinners instead of eating out."
"Tony is simply the BEST. He knows everyone in town. He got us up to the terrace at Palacio Azul for a beautiful sunset view. The terrace is normally accessible only for the hotel guests!"

"The trip to Trinidad went by fast. We made an unscheduled stop at the largest shrimp farm in Cuba. We enjoyed the brief stop at the fruit stand to buy local fruits (SO GOOD!!!). Throughout the drive Tony shared a lot of great information. He talked a lot about living in Cuba over the years, even tidbits about Trump scouting the area between Cienfuegos and Trinidad. The conversations made the tour so special. We definitely wouldn't get the same Cuban experience from a regular cruise excursion."
