Book 13 - was released on July 26th:
"Behind locked doors, fear takes root. The word on every trembling lip: witchcraft.
For Seb, a man bound by duty and haunted by secrets, the horrors hit dangerously close to home. He must plunge into a tangled web of desire, deception, and dark magic."
My new n-f book, the latest in my series of survival guides from Pen and Sword Books has just gone on pre-order. How to Survive in Ration-Book Britain imagines you, dear reader, as a time traveller, going back to the middle of the c20th. Britain was at war and food, fuel, clothing, even cricket balls were rationed. What was it like for the ordinary housewife, looking after her family, perhaps working full-time for the first time, feeding the kids, worrying if her man would return, what would you eat, what would you wear? How would you survive?
Come and see the magnificent Anglo-Saxon sword recently discovered by archaeologists in east Kent and featured on Digging for Britain with Alice Roberts. The weapon was described as being ‘in the top echelons of swords, an elite object in every way’.
You can also meet conservator Dana Goodburn-Brown the fascinating conservator who also featured on the programme. Please join me at CSI: Sittingbourne on Saturday 15 February in The Forum for this free half-term workshop.
I'll be there with my apothecary display too

Over 40 of the leading traders of equipment, costumes and artifacts from across history will seel you their wares and offer their expertise. Plus there is an excellent bar and cafe - plus live entertainment.
My biggest online talk to date, was a Tudor talk from Ashland Library in Massachusetts USA. Nearly 400 customers from America and Europe registered for the lecture, it was described by one as their "best ever talk"
The book looks at the place that would be called England, after the Romans left and before the Normans arrived. For convenience we have called this Anglo-Saxon England but it was much more complicate than that. It was a turbulent time, with the arrival of invaders from Europe and a new religion to cope with, yet a time of art and music too - a fascinating place to visit if you are given the chance
I had a fab day talking to hundreds of visitors at Faversham Medieval & Tudor market (and sold loads of books) - thanks to the organisers and everyone for coming.
King Henry VIII came along to admire my books, in particular How to Survive in Tudor England and he said he would forbid his Queen Anne from reading it!
I was delighted attend the Medieval Magic weekend in the beautiful setting of Lullingstone Castle over the May bank holiday - it was lovely to meet so many interested visitors and share the event with the friendly crew from The Woodville Household. Now as a loyal Ricardian the Woodvilles may not be my fist choice of historic companions but as you might expect, they were delightful, friendly and helpful folk!
I had three launch events: on Saturday April 6 in Maidstone, April 13 at Canterbury Library and Sunday April 14 at Sandwich Medieval Centre - if you came along, thank you for your support
Virtually everyone travelling from London to Canterbury, or Dover, had to pass through Gravesend, either on the Roman Watling Street, the old Dover Road or the 'Long Ferry' on the Thames from Westminster.
The name Gravesend goes back to the tenth century and beyond; before the Domesday Book, and centuries before the plague came to England. The name Gravesend was the village belonging to the Greeve and where his authority ended (Greeve's End).
An Anglo Saxon settlement was here, as was a royal palace. The rights to a market were granted by the king and the right to ferry passengers to London was jealously guarded. Archbishops were born here, the town was destroyed by an invasion from France and survivors from the Wars of the Roses built their homes here. You can now order your copy in paperback or Kindle.
The Colour of Sin was top of the Hot New Releases on Amazon on launch day - as was The History of Medieval Gravesend
I was LIVE on BBC Radio Kent on Friday lunchtime, talking about my new Sebastian Foxley adventure you can listen via BBC Sounds - search for The Dominic King Show on Radio Kent at around 12.40pm on the 29th of March 2024
