We have a few different options.
Mini-classes - We offer mini-classes on the Second Saturday of each month. For $30 we'll do a demo to show you how to make a flower or seasonal item and then assist you to make your own piece. Small introduction to the glass making world.
Individual classes - Not as readily available, but if you are interested in getting a bit more involved we can do individual classes. These tend to be $50-100 per hour and depend on the schedule of our different artists we'd partner you with for training.
Group classes - We're a small shop so 4-6 is ideal, but this is a hands-on, deep dive into making glass. Typically classes are 4-8 people, but we can customize classes for groups of up to ~20 people depending on the weather. Very engaging and a ton of fun, we find these are great for date nights, activity for a group of friends, or teambuilding event.
Some options below but for more info email us at TAGG43615@gmail.com
Membership
We are a small studio. Essentially a co-op of ~10-20 members that collectively run the studio, teach classes, manage the demonstrations, create glass materials, and operate the nonprofit. All aspects of the shop operation from furnace maintenance, batching, marketing, demonstrations, class orientation, promotion, and sales are all conducted by our volunteer members.
The Toledo Area Glass Guild's objectives are to provide a facility and environment for the expression and practice of glass art; to promote and foster the appreciation and understanding of glass art through public lectures, demonstrations, and education, and to reinforce the image of Toledo as the glass capitol of the world by showcasing the works of accomplished glass artists.
Ideal membership for us are people with some base knowledge of glass blowing. We're looking for people that can safely operate the shop and add to the organization goals, create interesting and engaging materials, and volunteer to support the overall organization goals. We engage like-minded artists from hobbyists up to experienced glass artists and glass workers. Because we don't have a paid formal studio manager, professional artists wanting dozens of blow hours per month aren't are typical demographic. We're looking for a good balance of skill sets to balance our income and exposure to allow us to achieve our mission - making glass blowing and blown glass materials accessible for the public.
If interested in membership, send us an email at TAGG43615@gmail.com to discuss provisional membership.
