do.ko.da

do.ko.da is a game  that highlights local "sites of sustainability" in Shizuoka Prefecture, Japan.

What is a "site of sustainability"? It is our term for a local place that is advancing the cause of community sustainability.  Simply put, it is a place where the UN's Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) are put into practice. The game is meant to communicate about the good and important places in our local communities.

This is our most participatory game design yet: you can download content for the game below, create your own content, and make up your own rules or use rules that have been suggested by others.

In this sense, the game is an ongoing experiment and experience in sustainability.

The core component of do.ko.da is information about places in your community. This information takes the form of simple one-page documents like those shown below.  Each document should include a title, one to three SDG icons, a photograph, and one paragraph of text describing the site and why it is valuable.

The content can be used as the basis for a simple guessing game, in line with the rules of da.re.da, or in another way that you imagine with others in your community.

You can download a .pdf document of the content we've created so far here.  Have fun playing and learning about the community where you live!
