日本の宗教学の形成過程を振り返りながら、初期の宗教学者たち、また彼らに学んだ人々が宗教というものをどのように把握しようとしていたのかを考える。

This course describes the early history of religious studies in Japan, as well as the understanding of religion or religiosity by the intellectuals in Meiji era.

日本人にとって宗教とはなんであるのかという現代的問題意識に結びつけながら宗教学の歴史と基本概念を学ぶ。
