Lawyer Lingo

Shareholder: A person/institution that has invested money into a corporation in exchange for a share (a cut) of the company. This is usually done by buying a company's stocks in order to help the company succeed because if the company does better, the shareholder gets paid more.

Insurance Contingency: A contract that allows a buyer to cancel a purchase without penalty if certain events occur. In our case, if someone bought Antril, the company has an insurance contingency, and the person gets wacky side effects, they can return the medication without having to sue the company.

Litigation: This is just the act of taking legal action. So at this moment, Alan wants to make sure the company has Insurance Contingency in order to make sure that the customers and folks don't need to take legal action against the company.

Liability: A person or group that is responsible for something, typically by law.
