The Master Surgeon Website is a Surgical Trainee's Best Friend!


  • The Master Surgeon website was founded in 2008 by Mr. Devender Mittapalli, a general surgery registrar working at the Walsall Manor hospital, West Midlands, United Kingdom at the time.


  • Mr Kasun Wanigasooriya joined Mr Mittapalli in 2010. This lead to the initial major upgrade to the website in 2010. The site received a further upgrade in 2014 bringing it to its present day standard. An efficient and user friendly platform was developed for the distribution of questions, tutorials, career advice and other medical/surgical resources online.


  • In 2013 the Master Surgeon services which include the website, courses were incorporated under an unberella non-profit organization, The Master Surgeon Trust charity founded by Mr Devender Mittapalli and Mr Kasun Wanigasooriya.


  • The Master Surgeon website comprises of Free Practice MCQs, EMQs and OSCE practice. This site is a valuable resource to anyone taking a medical/surgical exam at medical school or MRCS level or for anyone taking the PLAB or USMLE exams.


  • The site also contains a number of free tutorials, designed in a clear, concise manner, filled with all up to date information (validated by a number of professionals in each field). The latter services will facilitate a better understanding of the modern surgical concepts amongst students. The section of the website titled "The Future Surgeons" provides career advice, useful tips and information to anyone who wishes to pursue a surgical career in the future.


  • Since its launch after the upgrade in 2010 the website has been visited by over 1 million users. The website receives over 15,000 visits a month on average.
