We are a non-profit organization. All our services are free or at cost price. Membership of the charity is presently free.
The charity was founded for the purposes of improving surgical training and education. This web site provides many resources for medical students, junior doctors and surgical trainees to help pass their medical school exams, membership (MRCS) exam and understand the fascinating field of surgery. The charity is governed by the executive committee, elected each year at The Annual General Meeting.
The Master Surgeon Trust was founded on the 23rd March 2013 by Mr Devender Mittapalli and Mr Kasun Wanigasooriya as a strategic means of incorporating the non-profit services conducted by The Master Surgeon team. The charity is registered with Her Majesties Revenues and Customs Office, in the United Kingdom.
The name Master Surgeon was first coined in 2008 by Mr Devender Mittapalli with the launch of a website to host free questions. Mr Kasun Wanigasooriya joined Mr Devender Mittapalli in 2010 and together launched the first dynamic Master Surgeon website. This was well received and saw a few hundred thousand users in the first year. With the growing popularity of the website more members were recruited to the website who generously donated their time, effort and other resources and significantly contributed to the initial rapid growth of the website. These initial members included Mr Adnan Darr, Dr Edward Rawstorne , Dr Bhagyalakshmi Rajesh and Mr Edward Gee. Mr Adnan Darr has continued to support the charity to this day and is an active member in the organisation.
With growing numbers of members and recruits the founders required a means of good governance and also a means of maintaining the founding principles of the website. The Master Surgeon Trust charity was thus founded. The initial Annual General Meeting was held on the 23rd March 2013. The initial charity constitution was signed and approved by the initial committee. A charity bank account was set up and the charity officially registered as a non profit organization. The constitution has since undergone a few amendments, all approved at Annual General Meetings by popular vote.
The charity has continued to grow in strength and number. The founding members continue to provide non-executive oversight and guidance to the organisation.
