As part of the new Career and Technical Education (CTE) requirements for our MCJROTC program, cadets are being provided an opportunity to complete the ASVAB as part of their career-readiness requirements and pathway toward CTE completion and recognition.
The purpose of this is NOT to recruit cadets into the military.
The ASVAB is an aptitude assessment that measures skills in areas such as mathematics, verbal skills, science, and technical subjects. While the ASVAB is used by the military for enlistment and career placement, it is also used through the ASVAB Career Exploration Program (CEP) to help students understand their strengths, explore careers, and consider different options after high school.
Students do not have to be interested in joining the military to benefit from the ASVAB. The program is designed to help students explore college, technical training, civilian careers, government careers, and military careers.
For our MCJROTC cadets, this is primarily about meeting our CTE/career-readiness expectations and giving you another tool to help plan for life after high school.
