Screen Sizing

*Update:

It is now possible to add several layouts in one theme, so with the recently updated ✦ TREK ✦ Total Launcher Theme, when opening the theme from your app drawer, you can swipe left to the layout you need before pressing the "Apply" button.

I'll get to an update of the ✦ TREK ✦ Total Interface when I can. Until then use the following guide.

On devices with the unusual screen sizes (aspect ratio other than 22:9, 20:9, 19.5:9, 19:9, 18.5:9, 18:9, 16:9, 5:8 or 16:10, 25:9 and 22.5:18 which are included)

Sorry you can't get a perfect layout with the Total Launcher themes without some edits due to being set on a per-pixel bases. (unless you just simply copy+paste, add objects, or a widget at the bottom) *New Trek style is much more free with its layout, so you can just highlight some things and drag them into better position. See highlighting directions at the bottom of the page.

Portrait mode:

You will have an empty gap on the bottom. If you also have a gap at the top, you enable Total Launcher to full screen in your device's settings.

For the extra space on the bottom I recommend filling it with whatever objects (design materials are included in the app) or widget you like. *To make it easy and add function, I recommend just adding one of my matching widgets. You can find them at:

Landscape mode:

Probably the theme fits the whole width of your screen but can scroll down to show the rest of it. To deal with this, there is now a resize button to scale everything in the top-left next to the highlight tool button when in edit mode. This is especially helpful in landscape mode to make it fit the height of your screen.

Then you will need to fill the empty gap at the right (or left if you highlight everything and drag it to the right) by either putting objects or widgets in there or editing the theme to make it longer.

After that, we will need to resize all of the windows that change the screen after pressing buttons. (This is mostly for the LCARS style, as you can mostly just move the position of the New Trek style if the widows aren't larger than the screen.)

To resize the windows, in edit mode, long press an empty area of the window then grab a corner on the bottom left or right to diagonally resize it up into position.

Highlight Tool Directions:

*You may want to try the resize button mentioned earlier instead of the following for fitting all items to the screen.

*Not necessary, but I recommend connecting a mouse to your phone for this for more precise control. Also make a backup first if you've already made edits you want to keep so you'll have a restore point in case you make a mistake.

In edit/unlocked mode, you will see a yellow icon in the top left of the screen. Tap that and you will see thin white lines that show the layout bounds for all objects. You can use this tool for many things. To highlight something is the same as on a computer where you start at one corner of whatever group you want to highlight and drag it until everything you wanted is highlighted. If something extra you didn't want is also highlighted, just tap it to deselect it or try again with the highlight tool more precisely.

Once you have things highlighted, you can:

  • Group them into 1 object by tapping the 2-box icon third from the right on the bottom. Then you can give everything the same launch action and sound.

  • Move the highlighted group into a different position by holding on the middle and dragging to where you want. This keeps the size and spacing of the group.

  • Resize it all. Grab the bottom left or right corner and diagonally drag it until you reach the desired size, then release. * This is particularly helpful for the landscape mode on devices with long screens. Then you will want to resize to your screen's width, for example 1440 pixels or until it fits without scrolling at all.
