About the Artist

David Henty is the “World's Number One Art Forger” and has painted MORE Lowrys than Lowry! Timeless Art & Antiques are the ONLY stockists of Henty’s work in Scotland.

His work is meticulously and lovingly recreated to the finest detail, having honed his craft over 25 years to now master the techniques and nuances of some of history’s most iconic artists, his work has fooled scientists and art critics alike, being practically indiscernible from originals of such artworks by Amedeo Modigliani, Pablo Picasso, LS Lowry, Caravaggio, Leonardo Da Vinci, Vincent Van Gogh, Norman Rockwell, Chaim Sautine, Carel Fabrituius, Claude Monet, Jean Michel Basquiat, Ewin Landseer, Walter Sickert, Rene Magritte, David Shepherd, John Singer Sargent, Gabriel Rossetti, and the list goes on.

Many of Henty's forgeries have been sold by art dealers and auction houses as original works and are unknowingly included in many collections around the world. Having painted more copies of LS Lowry's work than Lowry himself, Henty now operates on the right side of the law. His paintings regularly sell for thousands of pounds. In the 1990s Henty found himself on the wrong side of the law and he was imprisoned in the UK for forging passports and in Spain for selling stolen cars. During his time in prison Henty developed not only his skill at painting but the methodology he now uses to faithfully recreate great masters’ works. Henty found he could mentally transport himself out of his immediate surroundings by immersing himself in the life and work of an artist and meditating on a painting, brushstroke by brushstroke. By mentally submerging himself in this way, Henty discovered a flow state in which he could work and accurately and authentically recreate the artist's work

In 2023 Henty provided the inspiration for the art forger character at the centre of Peter James novel Picture You Dead and painted the ‘lost’ work by Jean-Honore Fragonard at the heart of the narrative. ‘Everybody I show the work to is astounded’ James said. ‘He can copy so many artists from Fragonard to Caravaggio. They're just stunning.' Picture You Dead has now been adapted as s stage play and started its nationwide touring run in February 2025. Read more here!

Currently David is working on a book about the lost Arts of Caravaggio which is his passion project and continues to create Art by his favourite Masters.
