Babette Gemmell

About the Artist

Babette was born in France, and spent most of her early life abroad as a daughter of French diplomat parents. At the age of 18, she came to England and spent many years working in the film and fashion industry. latterly, Babette moved to Scotland where she married and started a very busy family life.

Sculpture had always been a dream of Babettes that she finally realised when she met her teacher, Peter Graham. She became totally enthralled in becoming a sculptor and consequently she dedicated as much time as possible incorporating sculpturing into her family and social life.

Her work varies greatly, from life size portraits to animals, and even images from her imagination.

From 2003 to 2021, Babette ran the ‘the Delvine Studio’ near Dunkeld which she shared with 7 other artists.
