December 25th, 2018, Christmas Day

On our first day, we had to wake up at 3:30am because we had a flight at 6:40am. Our vacation day was on Christmas Day so the airport was a big raucous! Since we had a flight we didn’t eat breakfast. We just brushed our teeth and headed for the airport. About 45 minutes later we arrived at the airport. Since we didn’t have breakfast at the airport my dad got me a cream cheese bagel from Einstein Bagel Brothers. We had to go through the check in place, then the security checkpoint, finally we had to ride the subway to our gate. We waited some time then the plane arrived. It was a 2 hour flight to Texas. When we arrived, we went to a walking trail, that trail had dark blue water. We also went to a playground and played with some kids while my parents walked a trail. We checked in at our hotel at around 3:30pm. We just relaxed and had dinner at the hotel since it was a long busy day.

Today was my favorite day of our vacation. We went to NASA (National Aeronautics and Space Administration); there were a lot of cool shows and rides. We had to wait an hour to ride the tram to see the area where they program rovers and robots space missions in the future. I went on a VR (Virtual Reality) ride on space. There were fun interactive things to play with. We played at NASA for a whole day. When it was time for dinner we went to a restaurant that was called “Aquarium”. It was called “Aquarium” because there were giant fish tanks with many fish and aquatic animals. It was very big too, there were three floors! We didn’t get to visit the third floor since there was a private event going on. On the third floor you were supposed to be able to touch stingrays and feed them.

This day took the longest since we had to drive all the way to San Antonio, a city in Texas. It was a three hour drive which seemed like FOREVER!!!!!! So anyway, at San Antonio we saw the Alamo which was a fort built during the Mexican-American War. There were small exhibits that showed weapons, antiques, and resources during the Alamo. We also saw a church that had a wait for TWO HOURS! Good thing we didn’t line up for it or we would’ve wasted a lot of time. At lunch we went to a Mexican restaurant we had quesadillas, tacos, and enchiladas. For the rest of the day we saw some street shows and walked the river walk. It was a paved walkway that was beside a river. To get to the river walk we had to walk through a hotel. It was cool how you had to walk through a hotel to get there. When we got to our hotel it was 8:00pm. It was a tiring day.

Today we went to the George’s Ranch National Park. I learned that it was called the George’s National Park because the last person that owned it Surname was George. It was very cool we saw their houses on the ranch. I also learned that the ranch was created in 1830. We looked at the oldest house it was very small. We also saw the ox show. They showed us how the oxen lived and how they guided them. After that we drove to the Underground tunnel. It was like a huge mall underground. It was very interesting. After we went to the underground we went to the bridge to see bats, but unfortunately, the bats didn’t come out. We did hear a lot of squealing noises of the bats under the bridge. For dinner, we went out to eat duck. There duck was very good. I hope I can try it again soon.

Today was the last day at Texas. I was upset it was the last day already. After all, it felt like a couple of hours! Today, we checked out of our hotel at 9:30am and we went to a gigantic mall in Texas. In Texas everything is bigger. The mall over there was probably the same size as three malls in Georgia! Inside the mall they also had a huge ice skating rink. In the center of it there was a giant-50 foot tall Christmas tree! Since I haven’t been learning ice skating since I was five I almost forgot how to skate. I did fall two times, but I just got back up and started all over again. After being at the mall for about 3 hours we went to a very fancy restaurant called “Taste of Texas.” Since it was very popular all the seats were full by the time we got there. We had to wait a hour and 30 minutes for us to get a seat! We had steak and chicken. Their food was very good and their restrooms were even fancier. In the restroom mirror there were two TVs installed inside the mirror. It was very cool. The sink was cool too. If you put your hand closer to the tap the water would get hotter. If you put it away from the tap it would become colder. It was a motion sensor sink. After dinner we drove to the airport. We had to catch a flight at 9:45pm. By the time we got there it was 6:00pm. When I got on the airplane, I took a nap. When I woke up we were there. I checked the time it was 12:30 am already! Me, my brother, and my mom went to pick up the baggage while our dad got the car. After we claimed our bag It was 2:30am. When we drove home it was 3:00am. I would never forget our trip to Texas. It may be a short one, but it was a memorable one.

The End!
